My name is Roxy and I am the photographer behind Rutland Captures, a Rutland based photographer specialising in maternity, newborn, children, family, dance, and equine photography.
I am now married and a mum to two wonderfully crazy toddlers, which has completely shaped the way I work with families. I understand the chaos, the unpredictability, and the beauty of real life with children, and I bring that understanding into every session.
Before becoming a mum, I was a professional dancer, which has given me a strong understanding of movement, posture, and timing. This experience allows me to confidently guide posed moments when needed, while also capturing natural action shots full of flow, expression, and emotion. Dance photography is something I am especially passionate about.
I also previously owned my own horses, which is why equine photography is so close to my heart. I understand horses, their behaviour, and the unique bond between horse and rider. This allows me to create calm, respectful equine portraits that truly reflect connection and trust.
My photography style is natural, relaxed, and true to life, focusing on genuine moments, real emotion, and meaningful connections. I believe the most powerful photographs are the ones that feel honest and timeless.
Many clients feel nervous about being in front of the camera, especially with young children. My sessions are calm, supportive, and child led, allowing families to feel at ease. There is no pressure to perform or pose perfectly. I create space for both beautifully guided portraits and natural candid moments.
